Foreword by the Chairman
"In 2017 for the 50th time the European Veterinary Conference the Voorjaarsdagen will be organized. You can imagine that this fact makes us very proud. What does that actually mean, 50 years Voorjaarsdagen? A long time before the vet needed to be certified and accreditation points had to be earned, a small group of veterinarians already realized the great importance of post-doc education. What started out as a 1-day companion animal congress, has become a full fledged 3-day international conference. All aspects of veterinary medicine and public health issues are discussed. We provide an extensive scientific program in the field of companion animals, horses and farm animals, combined with a program for veterinary technicians and veterinarians employed by the NVWA. The science goes on and so will we! The scientific independent character is the core of our congress and makes us unique in the world of veterinary continuing education.
Last year we have taken the step to a new location: the Fokker Terminal in the Hague. The great industrial exhibition floor, with beautiful light was a great success. Many exhibitors and participants were excited and it was not a difficult choice to capture the location also for 2017. We are convinced that it will be a wonderful environment again, to combine CPD with catching up with the industry and fellow vets.
If you ask me why my heart is beating for the Voorjaarsdagen, then I have to tell you that the love for the Congress started in my college years. As a student we met "real" veterinarians, we heard international speakers presenting difficult and interesting cases and we had a great party afterwards. The fact that you can participate in this every year as a practicing veterinarian, makes that you get a deep bond with the congress, your colleagues, the organization and the exhibitors who help make it all possible. I would warmly like to invite you all to come and experience this as well during our upcoming European Veterinary Conference the Voorjaarsdagen: The Golden Edition!"
